I'm so proud of you all

On this day, July Twentieth of the year Two Thousand and Ten, the online music blog "Dats My Shit" did receive it's first DMCA take down notice.

The offending blog post (which was of course Eminem's Recovery, how foolish of me to post such a popular and bad album) was found by the IFPI, and has been edited to remove the link and also celebrate this momentous occasion.

I am so proud of all of you. Without your hard work and dedication we never would have made it this far.

Here's to our first takedown notice, and many more to come: Cheers!

Digable Planets-Reachin' (A New Refutation of Time & Space)-1993

Reachin (A New Refutation of Time and Space) is the debut album by Alternative hip hop group Digable Planets. It was released on September 27, 1993 by Pendulum Records and Elektra Records. The album was produced solely by Digable Planets' Butterfly and features raps by each of the group's members. There are no guest performers on Reachin', but the production is heavily sample based. Butterfly samples artists including Kool & The Gang, James Brown, and Herbie Hancock to provide the album with funky and jazzy beats. The lyrics tend to cover a wide scope of subject matter including the right to abortion ("La Femme Fetal"), the coolness of Digable Planets ("Rebirth of Slick (Cool Like Dat))" and the similarities between cannabis and funky music ("Nickel Bags").

Oh No Oh My-Oh No! Oh My!-2006

Oh No Oh My consists of Daniel Hoxmeier, Joel Calvin, Greg Barkley, and Tim Regan. The members of Oh No Oh My started playing music when they were fourteen years old, and all of them play at least three different instruments. The group moved to Nashville, Tennessee in January 2005 to continue with their music, where they played several local shows, experimented with their lineup, and released their debut, self-titled album (see above). Before 2008 their name was stylized "Oh No! Oh My!" but then they sold out and dropped the exclamation points. Fuck this band.

DJ Shadow - Endtroducing..... - 1996

Endtroducing..... is the debut studio album by hip hop artist DJ Shadow. It was first released on November 19, 1996 by Mo' Wax Records, and later reissued on June 7, 2005 by Island Records. It is noted by Guinness World Records for being one of the first instrumental albums created entirely from samples of other records. Endtroducing..... is structured completely out of sampled elements, including hip hop, jazz, funk, psychedelia, old television shows, interviews and percussion tracks. The entirety of the album was composed on an MPC60, a machine which Shadow would later pass on to Chief Xcel.

Neon Indian - Psychic Chasms - 2009

Based on advance buzz from blogs, Neon Indian went from being an obscure Austin, TX duo to one of 2009’s most hotly tipped bands. Their debut Psychic Chasms actually lived up to the hype, which was no mean feat, especially because the band’s sound could be described as an improbable, hazy swirl of Daft Punk, My Bloody Valentine, and a vintage game console.

i think most of the people who would be reading this are in on the neon indian craze but if you're not, this is an awesome album

Man Man - The Man in a Blue Turban With a Face - 2004

Man Man is an experimental band from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Their musical style has been described as Viking-vaudeville, manic Gypsy jazz. Man Man is known for their exuberant live performances. When performing, the members of the band sometimes synchronize their dress, often seen in white outfits and, more commonly, war paint. The band uses pseudonyms—the frontman is Honus Honus, and its other members are Sergei Sogay, Pow Pow, Critter Crat (formerly known as "Cougar"), and Chang Wang. Prior to settling on Man Man, the band was named Gamelon and briefly Magic Blood.

Blue Eyes meets Bed-Stuy - Dj Capel / Smitty

Frank Sinatra, meet Notorious B.I.G.

This is beautiful mash-up mixtape made by Dj Capel & Smitty. They aren't total Sinatra songs, mostly just the riff turned into a beat with some blue eyes clips to set the mood, and biggie there to get the blunt in rotation

Blue Eyes meets Bed-Stuy(megaupload)

The Seven Fields of Aphelion - Periphery - 2010

Ain't no wiki page for this album. It's a solo album from Maux Boyle from BMSR. Don't know what that really means since Tobacco says BMSR is really just him anyway but whatever.

Nas - Illmatic - 1994

"Illmatic is the debut album of American rapper Nas, released April 19, 1994 on Columbia Records. Stylistically a hardcore hip hop album, Illmatic features Nas's multi-syllabic internal rhyme patterns expressing inner city lyrical themes and narratives based on his native Queensbridge, New York."
