Givers / In Light / 2011

if the good vibe tribe made music, this is what it would sound like.

Some seriously good vibes eminate from this album. Nearly all these tracks were previously available through EP's and or singles scattered across the internet, but i am so happy that htese guys have been signed and are touring the country sharing their love of music.

"-After their 2009 EP, a successful tour with the likes of Ra Ra Riot and Dirty Projectors and a signing to Glassnote Records, GIVERS got together with producer Ben Allen (Animal Collective, Deerhunter) and mixing engineer Chris Coady (Grizzly Bear, Beach House) to make their summer debut, full-length with In Light out June 6.

-The opener, "Up Up Up", is a perfect intro to the album as it stays true to the
GIVERS folk, upbeat style. Lead singer/guitarist Taylor Guarisco and lead singer/percussionist Tiffany Lamson intricately sing hand in hand with each verse to the very end. The song picks up at the end with an array of loud guitar riffs, hard drum beats and percussion.

-Tiffany Lamson showcases her melodious vocals in the song "Ripe." She begins singing, "You like your man ripe/I like mine still growing" with a buoyant guitar rhythm backing her up.

-The quintet display an incredible talent for their Louisiana indie-folk style moving from its bright, charismatic rhythms to its slow, tranquil moments. They combine percussion with a contagious guitar sound with perfect balance and accompany it with the smooth and gritty vocals from Guarisco and Lamson.

Key Tracks:

"Up Up Up," "Noche Nada (A Lot From Me)," "Atlantic"

Discovery / LP / 2009

This album is  a couple of years old but still gets lots of airplay, especially during the summer. One of my all-time favorite tracks on here is "Swing Tree." The first few seconds of this song will (possibly) get you hooked for months...or, in my case, years. Definitely check out the rest of the album though.

WHERE'S THE FREEDOM IN THE DISCO IF YOU'RE ALL ALONE?

Blue Scholars / Cinemetropolis / 2011

I wish they would have skipped 00F!

"ABOUT CINEMETROPOLIS

Cinema has always played a major influence in Blue Scholars music, and this collection of songs is the most complete expression of that source of inspiration. During the creation of this collection of songs, an idea emerged: how does music influence cinema?

With your help, Cinemetropolis will be both an album and a collection of films inspired by the music. A sort of reverse movie soundtrack. With this project, each song, through collaborations with an array of filmmakers, will take on a life its own. We got a gang of music videos, short films and multimedia projects in the works, anchored by a featurette directed by longtime Blue Scholars collaborator Zia Mohajerjasbi.

Cinemetropolis, our first full-length release since 2007's Bayani, will drop in June 2011, followed by a Fall tour. Kickstarter is the only way that you'll be able to get the album *before* the official release date. "

success!

Love is a Laserquest

This is not the new album from Bon Iver. So don't download it.

I'm very curious to see how long this will be up before those nasty DMCA goblins tear it down. So snatch it while you can children!

Sharks Keep Moving-Sharks Keep Moving-1999

Sharks Keep Moving were a short-lived Seattle rock band that formed in 1998. The band’s original lineup consisted of Jake Snider, Jeff DeGolier, Nate Turpen, and Dan Dean, and J. Clark. Their music was a melodic, often soft, brand of rock with odd time signatures and an almost freeform jazz influence.

Lean Grimes / Lean Grimes / 2011

Here's a funky batch of mix and matched songs all broken down and re-pieced back together sort of like the album art that accompanies it (pictured above). A groovy pot of assorted sounds and samples bursting at the seems with life and fluidity. Snag the whole album at Leann Grimes bandcamp [here].

Pance Party / Rainbow Road - EP / 2011

"Fresh off a six month hiatus we're pleased to bring our friends and fans the 'Rainbow Road' EP -- Four tracks of glorious wonder set amongst an infinite starscape... But be wary, for this road has no walls or boundaries. One bad turn and it's an endless descent... INTO THE ETHER."

I think you'll enjoy this
donate (i know we don't normally do this, but when an artist releases their music for free, it puts them up a notch in my book)
